Laval Pound Contract

A sad thing happened in Chomedey Laval yesterday. A neighbor was evicted, her meagre possessions picked up by a city truck and hauled away. I do not know of her personal problems.

But the saddest thing is that earlier that morning, her dogs that she loved very much, were taken away by Berger Blanc, the private company that took over the Laval pound contract by ruse and the help of Pierre Barnotti. Following the demise of the Laval SPCA, conniving and corruption entered the field because of the monies involved and free access to animals.

How are we to tell the mayor of his mistake ? That Berger Blanc sells dogs to Lamarche & Pinard for scrap yard guarding contracts, for puppy mills and laboratories ? And Joe Public is told they are put up for adoption. Crap!!! We now have a reliable witness to that effect. Who cares about the fate of the Laval dogs ?

Laval taxpayers got the shorter end of the deal since they will not be in a position to get their lost pet back. BB facilities are so far away in Montreal East End that if one do not own a car, it is quite impossible to get there in time to recuperate the dog before it is sold. Not counting on the fact that employees of the company will NEVER tell you over the phone that they have it. One has to go on the premises and look over the animals in ALL rooms, back yard included..

So far, stray cats are not threatened since one has to catch them first, then call the “service de cueillette” which will pick up the animals within 24 hours. Even though we will have a huge problem collecting and adopting the 15 cats that were dumped in Fabreville on Friday, we believe they were saved. The lady who abandoned them told us that her daughter took them to BB. We know better.

But what if the animal is injured ? And the pick up is within 24 hours and longer ? BB do not care about the suffering of an animal. The injured pet will be put in the back of the truck along with skunks and such and God knows what will happen to it afterwards. Is it a good solution for the animal to call that pound contractor ? If one does not want to get involved and rid the street of an injured animal, fine. Problem solved! But for an animal lover, knowing the fate that awaits a lost dog or an injured cat, another solution must be found.

Something must be done about that pound contract in Laval but I am short of power and ideas.
